Open Level Lyrical

About this event

Lyrical is a style of dance that falls under the jazz umbrella. It began in the 1960's and combined the classical ballet line with jazz dance. It follows the lyrics or lyrical nature of a song and allows the dancer to show the emotion and expression of the music through movement. This class will begin with a warmup and center exercises, followed by across-the-floor work to hone the styles needed to create flowing locomotive movement. Combinations will be taught to allow students an opportunity to combine the movement knowledge they have gained with the emotions and intentions they feel from the lyrics of specific songs. All levels are welcome!
