  • Champlain Elementary School behavioral interventionist Eli Bissonette has been nominated for National Life Group’s LifeChanger of the Year award that honors educators making a difference. The award winners will be announced in early 2026.  Burlington Free Press
  • UVM students spent Sunday night enjoying backyard skiing and sledding in a snowstorm, reliving childhood fun and planning a snowball fight if classes are canceled. VTrans crews cleared roads while Burlington International Airport halted flights as crews prepared for more snow (which may cause drifting conditions).  NBC5

SPORTS NEWS

  • More than a dozen athletes with Vermont ties were named to the U.S. Olympic team and will compete in Alpine, biathlon, cross-country + freestyle events at the Winter Games in Italy from Feb. 6 to 22. Many plan to travel with family for a fuller Olympic experience after Covid restrictions.  VTDigger
  • The Vermont Sports Hall of Fame announced its 2026 inductees—10 new members joining 153 since 2012. The class will be celebrated at a dinner in South Burlington on Saturday, April 25 + a 5:30 p.m. reception at the Delta Marriott.  Burlington Free Press
  • Ashton Dill scored an overtime goal on Saturday, Jan. 24 to give Essex a 3-2 win that ended U-32’s undefeated season in high school boys hockey. The upset marked a turning point in the weekend’s matchups.  Burlington Free Press
