EDUCATION NEWS

  • The nonprofit aiVermont is helping local schools adopt AI literacy efforts — guiding educators and students to balance technology use in class. Marc Natanagara says upcoming panels and events will invite community members to explore how AI can enhance learning.  NBC5
  • Vermont Highway Safety Alliance has announced a video contest for high school students to promote safe driving, with cash prizes over $2,500. Students can submit 30-, 45-, or 60-second PSAs until March 20 — winners will be honored at the Statehouse on April 15.  Burlington Free Press

  • Attorney Maryellen Griffin warns that proposals to speed up evictions in a market with a 2.1% vacancy rate may push more Vermonters into homelessness as rising rents squeeze tenants. She urges lawmakers to prioritize back-rent programs and legal counsel to reduce the housing crisis.  VTDigger
  • Starting Feb. 1, TSA will offer the ConfirmID system at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport for $45, allowing travelers without a REAL ID to verify their identity online before check-in, though most already use acceptable forms of identification.  Burlington Free Press
  • Crews in northern New York and Vermont are carefully managing salt supplies to keep roads safe during ongoing snow. In Vergennes, officials report that light storms use more salt than heavy storms and warn that supplies may run low if additional storms hit.  NBC5
  • USPS in Vermont implemented changes that ended evening pickups for items over 50 miles from regional centers and revised postmark rules—raising concerns that delivery delays may affect bills and ballots.  VTDigger
  • Burlington City Council approved a resolution called Promoting Community Dialogue with a 7-5 vote Monday night. Introduced by Councilor Allie Schachter, the measure affirms that Palestinians and Israelis deserve to live safely and will lead to community dialogue sessions.  NBC5
