  • The Jericho Town Library — a 200-year-old building — needs to raise $317,000 for structural repairs over the next few years. Library Director Catherine Bass is leading a fundraising push to ensure the library continues providing essential services for local residents.  Burlington Free Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bob Siemer, a 70-year-old heart disease survivor who first had issues at 49, underwent a groundbreaking stent procedure at Christ Hospital on Feb. 22 that restored normal blood flow to his heart, and he was seen hiking a week later, demonstrating his remarkable recovery.  NBC5
  • Six years after Covid first spread in Vermont, residents with long Covid still face problems with diagnosis, treatment and costly insurance. Local advocates and patients are calling for better care and more research to help manage symptoms and overcome barriers in the health care system.  VTDigger

  • Athletes with Vermont ties claimed seven of the 33 U.S. medals at the Milan Cortina Games today, marking over one-fifth of the total. The wins link a local legacy from Bill Koch to current stars like Ryan Cochran-Siegle & Mikaela Shiffrin.  Vermont Public
  • St. Mike's College alum Brent Hill helped guide the U.S. Women's Olympic Hockey Team to a gold win after an overtime victory over Team Canada on Thursday. He returns to his Quinnipiac assistant coaching role today as his team prepares for the quarterfinal playoff series next weekend.  NBC5
  • Athletes from our area came home with six medals from this year's Olympics. Vermont's Ben Ogden ended a 50-year medal drought by winning silver in men's sprint cross country and a second silver in team sprint - local favorites Paula Moltzan and Ryan Cochran-Siegle added bronze and silver while new stars Jack Young and Tate Frantz made their Olympic debuts.  NBC5
  • The Vermont-based Kelly Brush Foundation says the Paralympics in Milan Cortina from March 6-15 will spotlight adaptive sports and representation for people with disabilities. Anna Soens, who received KBF support, will race for Team USA in alpine skiing.  NBC5
