- ➤ A donated tractor has upgraded a Burlington community farm through the Dig Deep Vermont campaign—helping New American farmers who have long lacked essential equipment work more efficiently after many crops were lost in last year's floods. The new tractor will help the program, which serves refugees and immigrants, move the farm away from the river for better crop protection. NBC5
- ➤ Burlington police are trying to find the owner of a lost puppy that was found on Hyde Street and Pomeroy Street on March 21. The female dog wore a purple collar without tags and did not have a microchip— anyone with information should call 802-658-2700. MyChamplainValley.com

- ➤ Bass player Anthony Tidd will curate the 2025 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival that runs from June 4 through June 8 at The Flynn in Burlington—he will open with 'Origins: Sounds and Stories of the African Diaspora' and close with a concert featuring Ravi Coltrane and Brandee Younger performing music by Alice Coltrane. - ➤ First Children’s Finance VT awarded $543,000 in grants to 22 child care programs across nine counties to expand services for infants and toddlers. Sabrina Weber Family Child Care in Bennington will open as a registered home in June to add six slots while The Balancing Act Enrichment Center in Essex will expand its toddler program and accept applications for the next funding round through May 3. - ➤ Vermont State Trooper Michelle Archer rescued a young girl who fell into an icy pond in Cambridge in 2023—her body cam video shows her diving into frozen water and she was named a Carnegie Hero this week, an honor given to only 17 others in the United States and Canada. NBC5
- ➤ State Treasurer Mike Pieciak and legislative leaders announced on March 25th that the Senate approved Senate Bill 27, a measure that will eliminate $100 million in medical debt with a $1 million investment—blocking health care providers from reporting debt to credit agencies and protecting Vermonters from high health care costs.
