  • The Islamic Community Center of Vermont plans to move from its cramped Winooski building to two Riverside Avenue properties in Burlington + it must raise $100,000 by April 28.  Burlington Free Press

  • Burlington: Ben & Jerry's co-founder Ben Cohen held a Free Cone Day rally at the company's first scoop shop on Tuesday, urging supporters to sign a petition to restore its independence. He said Vermonters understand the brand's 47-year history.  NBC5

CULTURE NEWS

  • Netflix released 'Noah Kahan: Out of Body,' a documentary that tracks the singer’s journey — from his Vermont roots through battles with insecurity, body image, and family ties. Streaming since April 13, it comes as his new album 'The Great Divide' launches on April 24.  Burlington Free Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Vermont’s House Appropriations Committee approved an education reform bill on Tuesday (7-4) that sets up service regions and the option for districts to merge. The full House will vote next and the Senate is expected to review it on Friday.  NBC5
  • H.817, which passed the House, will let schools offer nonclinical mental health training and peer support for students; it is now under Senate review. The bill aims to help kids spot early signs of mental health and substance-use issues (programs could later extend to after-school sessions).  Burlington Free Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Heavy rain is making potholes harder to see in Chittenden County today. VTrans crews are starting permanent repairs while major projects are underway in Burlington, Colchester + Winooski; officials advise drivers to slow down until conditions improve.  NBC5

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Realtor.com data shows median home prices in Chittenden County dropped 6.1%, from $490,000 in December to $460,000 in January. Single-family homes fell 3.9% while condominiums edged lower, though year-over-year prices still modestly increased.  Burlington Free Press

  • Maureen Magarity ended her two-year retirement and was introduced as the new head coach for the UVM women's basketball team on Tuesday, April 14. She said the decision was driven by her connection to the electric Patrick Gym — a place that feels magical for her and her daughters.  Burlington Free Press
