CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Serhat D. Gumrukcu, a 42-year-old internationally known scientist from Los Angeles, was found guilty in Burlington federal court on all three counts in a murder-for-hire and wire fraud case linking him to the 2018 killing of Gregory Davis in the Northeast Kingdom—he now faces a possible mandatory life sentence with a sentencing hearing expected in about three months. - ➤ A suspect in a Colchester shooting on April 12th was arrested in Pompano Beach, Florida — 21-year-old Ryan Ducharme was taken into custody early Saturday morning after an arrest warrant was issued for attempted murder and aggravated assault, and he will be extradited back to Vermont while the 23-year-old victim remains in critical condition at UVM Medical Center. - ➤ The Tulip Superbloom event will take place at Hotel Vermont's Brick Terrace from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 26—visitors can build a bouquet of 12 stems from over 2,000 tulips provided by Von Trapp Flowers and enjoy complimentary snacks with beverages available for purchase. - ➤ Trey Woodyard, a 6-foot-6 (196-pound) forward from New Hampshire who played only six games last winter, announced on Friday via Instagram that he will join the Vermont basketball team.
