  • Today, the McClure Legacy Fund honored philanthropist Lois McClure by awarding $1 million in $100K grants to 10 nonprofits, including Burlington Hope Lodge which supports cancer patients and caregivers. The awards continue her lifelong commitment to community service.  Burlington Free Press

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Soulmate Brewing Company in Morrisville earned a bronze medal for its Coffee Imperial Stout at the Best of Craft Beer Awards in Oregon this morning, making it the only Vermont brewery to reach the podium; the award arrives as the company nears its three-year anniversary, adding to its 31 medals.  Burlington Free Press

  • Sports journalist Judith Altneu recalls how her autism diagnosis in sixth grade shaped her career in Vermont.   • At Maple Fest in St Albans, over 160 participants ran an 8.5 mile route while local Heather Feldman earned first place among women by finishing in under 55 minutes.   • Young Writers Project — an online community for teen art and writing — has shared a new entry titled 'In Tune' by Astrid Longstreth, 16 from West Bolton, with a photo called 'Waiting for the Wind' by Miles Witters, 15 from Richmond.
