- ➤ The Burlington Farmers Market re-opened on May 9 at 345 Pine St. and will run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 31, featuring over 70 vendors, live music, a kids tent, and nonprofit booths. Burlington Free Press
- ➤ EMS crews from Chittenden County will join a relay at the Vermont City Marathon on May 24 in Burlington to raise funds for families with children in long-term hospital care (Never Give Up Ever will cover food, rent, and gas expenses). - ➤ The University of Vermont opened the first station of the Vermont Mesonet today to boost weather monitoring for flood preparedness & farm planning in rural areas. UVM plans to add 20 stations statewide to aid emergency managers & researchers. Burlington Free Press

- ➤ A Vermont Department of Health report shows overdose deaths dropped 25% in 2025, with 170 fatalities recorded compared to 269 at the peak in 2022 plus Xylazine-related deaths falling 67% from 2024. Gov. Scott said the state will keep investing in treatment + harm reduction. VTDigger
- ➤ Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont seeks 2027 premium increases with rates at 3.1% for small group plans and 5.2% for individual plans as part of efforts to control rising healthcare costs such as a projected 16% jump in pharmacy expenses; the proposed changes now go to state regulators for review.
