- ➤ Yesterday, the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center in Burlington held a season kickoff celebration from noon to 6 p.m., featuring low-cost sails, food truck fare, and family-friendly games and crafts (supporting local efforts to promote Lake Champlain). NBC5
- ➤ On Saturday, about 500 people gathered in South Burlington for the annual Good Grief 5K Run and Walk, a fundraiser for families facing pregnancy loss or infant death. The event featured a 5K run, a 2K walk and family activities, with proceeds aiding Empty Arms Vermont's peer support programs. NBC5
- ➤ Longtime NBC5 photojournalist Oli Birgisson, whose images captured major events for nearly 30 years, will retire this week in south Burlington. He looks forward to fly fishing (and golf) with colleague Stewart Ledbetter. NBC5

- ➤ Long Trail Brewing will celebrate National Trails Day on June 6 by releasing a limited edition 168 beer pack and launching a new hiking rewards program. The pack is available at the brewery in Bridgewater Corners and at Beverage Warehouse in Winooski + the campaign donates to local trail groups. Burlington Free Press

- ➤ Employment in Vermont dropped by 900 jobs in April and the labor participation rate fell to 62.7% amid higher costs, while unemployment stayed at 2.6% (labor officials reported). VTDigger

- ➤ In Vermont, Social Security benefits for June follow the normal schedule: SSI payments will be mailed Monday, June 1 and regular benefits will be sent on Wednesday, June 10, June 17 and June 24 based on recipients' birth dates. Burlington Free Press
