  • On June 20th, Aubuchon ACE Hardware held a ribbon cutting on Main Street in Ludlow after major renovations—welcoming local customers to see its new partnership with ACE Hardware. ECONOMY NEWS

  • On June 24th, Comcast awarded a $65,000 grant to Technology for Tomorrow to expand its T4T Together program—training 75 Vermonters as Digital Navigators to help older people and new Americans gain basic computer skills and access affordable internet at home.  VermontBiz

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A federal judge ruled that Northlands Job Corps Center in Vergennes will remain open today while a lawsuit against its shutdown continues — the center offers free vocational training to about 150 young adults.  Seven Days

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Amy Simone, a UVM Master Gardener, explained how to save seeds from tomatoes, peppers, peas and beans for next year because our growing season is short. She said that ripe tomatoes should have their seeds jarred and shaken twice a day for five days, nearly ripe peppers should be picked with gloves, and pea and bean pods should dry on the vine; Master Gardeners are available for questions on Thursday mornings (9:00 a.m. to noon) at (802) 656-5421.  MyChamplainValley.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Phil Scott signed new election rules into law on June 16 that require all candidates to file campaign finance disclosures and stop a candidate who loses a primary from running in the general election under a different party. The law also sets reporting rules for write-in candidates, clarifies independent fundraisers’ obligations, and mandates voter roll audits in split districts (aiming to boost transparency).  VTDigger
  • Vermont's Agency of Transportation is accepting applications for its Municipal Park and Ride Grant Program to help cut traffic and pollution by reducing single-occupant vehicle trips at park and ride sites.   • Burlington City Council approved the fiscal year 2026 budget on Wednesday night in a plan that cuts 25 positions and trims several programs to manage a $9.8M gap while keeping taxes low for most homeowners.
