  • Vermont Public won four national awards from the Public Media Journalists Association for its 2024 coverage, earning top honors in Interview and News Feature and second-place in Special Coverage and Arts Feature — the entries were judged by over 70 media professionals among more than 1450 submissions.   • John W. Danforth Company is opening a new office in Williston at 20 Clif’s Court, which will feature a 3,000-square-foot office and a 7,600-square-foot pipe fabrication shop. The company will hire 10-15 office personnel + 40-60 field workers as part of its strategy to grow its presence in Vermont’s vibrant market.  VermontBiz
  • On June 26th, LaunchVT Demo Night at Hula brought hundreds together as startups pitched to investor judges and two winners emerged—Vship won the $15,000 Lake Champlain Chamber Award grand prize + Xander Medical received the $5,000 Audience Choice Award.   • The South Burlington Police Department is investigating a hazardous incident on Market Street—police ask motorists to avoid Market Street, Datillio Drive, and Dorset Street while emergency teams work at the scene.  NBC5

  • Vermont prisons struggled with ICE as agents made late-night requests for medical details and sudden transfers, straining resources at facilities in St. Albans and South Burlington—officials said they are reviewing the contract that expires on Aug. 21.  VTDigger

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Vermont Green women’s exhibition matches on June 11 drew 5,000 fans at Virtue Field and ended with wins of 4–0 over Flower City and 2–1 over Blainville. The club will continue hosting exhibition games until it secures a full season with a permanent women’s team — plans that reflect strong local support for women’s soccer.  VTDigger
  • Vermont native Caeden Herrington was picked in the NHL Draft by the LA Kings in the fourth round (120th overall) on Saturday, June 28. He will join UVM’s men's hockey team for workouts on July 14 to prepare for the new season.  Burlington Free Press
