- ➤ Burlington bar and music venue Nectar’s closed permanently on July 30 after nearly 50 years in the city. The staff announced the closure on social media — saying the venue will no longer shape Burlington’s music scene as it joins other local closures. MyChamplainValley.com
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Scientists at University of Vermont tracked 25 generations of marine copepods in controlled experiments and found that permanent DNA changes and reversible chemical changes helped the tiny creatures adapt to warming and acidifying ocean conditions — two independent mechanisms. The study shows that these ocean animals may be more resilient than once thought and could help support the marine food web. VermontBiz
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Vermont was named one of the best states for children’s health by an analysis that noted strong access to pediatric care and high rates of child health insurance — despite challenges such as rising homelessness and average outcomes in nutrition and obesity.
