CRIME NEWS

  • On Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, officers from Springfield Police and Windsor County Sheriff's Department responded to 78 Valley St where a man identified as James Crary from Newport accelerated toward them and was fatally shot at about 9:30 p.m.—Vermont State Police led the investigation, reviewing camera footage and witness accounts while conducting his autopsy on Saturday.  VermontBiz
  • Vermont State Police investigated a suspicious death after Bennington police turned over the case following a woman’s fatal injury on Route 11 near Thompsonburg Road in Londonderry on Aug. 22—authorities detained a person of interest and the hospital later resumed normal operations.  VermontBiz

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Friday night, five Ukrainian teens presented a play in Burlington that shared their personal stories from growing up in a war zone—organized by the nonprofit Common Man for Ukraine. The performance, inspired by letters from a trauma retreat, marked the third stop in their New England tour as final shows were held Saturday in the greater Boston area.  NBC5
