CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, officers from Springfield Police and Windsor County Sheriff's Department responded to 78 Valley St where a man identified as James Crary from Newport accelerated toward them and was fatally shot at about 9:30 p.m.—Vermont State Police led the investigation, reviewing camera footage and witness accounts while conducting his autopsy on Saturday. - ➤ Vermont State Police investigated a suspicious death after Bennington police turned over the case following a woman’s fatal injury on Route 11 near Thompsonburg Road in Londonderry on Aug. 22—authorities detained a person of interest and the hospital later resumed normal operations. VermontBiz
