- ➤ City Council approved $1,500 to support the BTV Cleanup Crew—who meets every Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at the top of Church Street to clean Burlington’s streets of trash and used needles—with volunteer numbers now ranging from 20 to 40 after the group started in May. The funding will help the crew expand its work to areas city workers do not normally reach. NBC5
- ➤ North Country SPCA is offering Loki, a 10-month-old hound-Great Dane mix who enjoys daily walks—while the Humane Society of Chittenden County seeks a home for Charlotte, a playful six-year-old dog. Windham County Humane Society is working to find a forever home for Cheeto, a seven-year-old cat who loves playing with his wand toys. NBC5

- ➤ Vermont native Hadley Robinson returns to the screen today in 'The History of Sound', a limited-release film starring Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor as two men who fall in love while collecting folk songs in rural Maine during World War I. The film, which premiered at Cannes in May, earned high praise for Robinson’s performance—she builds on high-profile work from 2023—and is not yet listed on local theater schedules. - ➤ The South Burlington School Board named Dr. Joe Clark as interim superintendent effective today, pending approval from the Vermont Agency of Education, to replace acting superintendent Kristin Romick after former superintendent Violet Nichols resigned amid criticism. - ➤ U.S. Senator Peter Welch announced that best-selling author and ultramarathoner Mirna Valerio will be the keynote speaker for the Women’s Economic Opportunity Conference in Randolph on September 27th. - ➤ The Vermont Agency of Transportation proposed cutting $7.5 million from the 2026 budget—using project delays, management savings, and reduced revenue from vehicle taxes and fees. Two legislative committees will review the rescission plan on Sept. 17 and 18 to decide if the cuts should go into effect. VTDigger
