  • The Lake Champlain Challenge Race in Vergennes brought rowers and paddlers together for a three-mile human-powered boat event despite low water levels forcing competitors to navigate carefully around near-surface rocks—organizers noted the 25th edition ended with an award ceremony and potluck lunch.  NBC5

  • Junapr, a Vermont-based strategic communications agency, was named to the 2026 PRNEWS Agency Elite Top 120 list for the fifth consecutive year—recognized for its innovation in public relations, digital marketing, events, and crisis communications in an announcement on September 12.  VermontBiz
  • Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC attorneys have been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America 2026 edition, with thirty-nine lawyers named and three Burlington-based attorneys — Christopher D. ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Vermont Department of Economic Development is finalizing guidelines for its Community and Housing Infrastructure Program that will launch early next year—its CHIP subcommittee is meeting every week—and is supporting growth with a 43 million dollar expansion at Weidmann Electrical and a new 15 million dollar Disaster Recovery Loan Fund. The department is also strengthening ties with Canada and offering a free business workshop starting October 20 along with funding for a Women’s Recovery Residence with applications due September 19.  VermontBiz

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fall foliage is starting in Vermont as leaves begin to change color, with maps showing early signs by the week of September 16. Detailed forecasts expect a vibrant display and peak colors by the week of October 7—with weather conditions influencing the timing.  Burlington Free Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • One week after breaking his nose and upper jaw, David Ismail returned wearing a face mask — cleared by doctors — to score the only goal in Vermont soccer’s 1-0 win over Akron at Virtue Field on Sept. 13. Coach Rob Dow praised Ismail’s leadership and said the win marked the program’s highest regular-season victory over a ranked opponent.  Burlington Free Press
