  • Andrew Grautski from NBC5 listed many weekend events for September 27 such as a Fall Foliage Festival in East Burke, car-free fun in Essex Junction and a chainsaw show in West Chazy. Burlington residents can enjoy Vermont PoutineFest at The Pinery from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today—while a barn dance runs in Waterbury from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.  NBC5
  • The 26th annual Green Mountain Iron Dog competition took place Saturday at Camp Kiniya in Colchester—dozens of dog owners and their dogs ran a course with jump and crawl obstacles to raise funds for the Vermont Police Canine Association. Sgt. Dave Dewey, the course director, said the event gave a hands-on look at K-9 handling and he looks forward to more teams next year.  NBC5

BUSINESS NEWS

  • VCIA said its 2026 Annual Captive Conference will be held Tuesday, August 11 through Thursday, August 13 in Burlington — a return to its usual Tuesday—Thursday schedule. The change comes from member input and will offer new programs for captive insurance professionals.  VermontBiz

CULTURE NEWS

  • Food Network named Hong’s Chinese Dumplings a gem after Guy Fieri praised its unique dumpling sauce—he said he wanted to buy it by the gallon. The Burlington restaurant located at 77 Pearl St is open only Saturdays from noon to 7 and its social media page posted a notice for potential partners to take over the business in July.  Burlington Free Press
  • A new guide for National Coffee Day on Sept. 29 lists one Vermont-owned coffee shop from each of the state’s 18 largest communities. The guide features shops such as Muddy Waters in Burlington and Village Wine & Coffee in Shelburne—helping locals and visitors plan stops for warm drinks across the state.  Burlington Free Press

  • No. 7 UVM men's soccer beat UMBC 2-0 on Sept. 27 at Virtue Field, extending their unbeaten streak to 20 matches. The Catamounts scored with goals from Ludvig af Ugglas and Ryan Zellefrow and will play at NJIT on Oct. 4 and at Harvard on Oct. 7.  Burlington Free Press
