  • At Adams Apple Orchard in Williston, apple-picking season is winding down with visitors enjoying a final weekend outdoors before winter. Owner John Adams said the trees produced strong fruit despite a dry start and lingering frost damage from two years ago—apple varieties are expected to sync better by next season.  NBC5

  • Ben & Jerry's announced its Scoop Shops began the Waffle Lotta Good campaign on October 21 to support Migrant Justice with funds from waffle cone sales; the program will run until November 4 and builds on an 8-year partnership aimed at empowering immigrant farmworkers.  VermontBiz

CULTURE NEWS

  • Vermont interior designer Ann Shriver Sargent was named to the New England Design Hall of Fame for her work on legacy homes and projects at Twin Farms — she will be formally inducted at the gala on November 6 at Boston’s SoWa Power Station.  VermontBiz

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • VBSR will host its annual Legislative Breakfast on November 6 at Hula in Burlington where guests will hear from healthcare leaders—including UVM Medical Center’s Stephen Leffler and Senator Welch’s healthcare policy lead Robin Lunge—as they discuss future changes to Vermont’s healthcare system and honor Senator Alison Hudnut Clarkson as Legislator of the Year. SPORTS NEWS

  • On Oct. 25, UVM men's soccer beat Bryant 2-1 in Smithfield after Philipp Kuhn scored two first-half goals that extended the team's unbeaten streak to 25 games. The team will host Albany on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. before playing Binghamton on Nov. 4.  Burlington Free Press
  • Rice girls soccer beat Milton 2-1 on Oct. 25 in a quarterfinal match that sent the team to the Division II semifinals—sophomore Sara Guidice scored a free kick from 30 yards that gave Rice their early lead.  Burlington Free Press
