- ➤ Beta Technologies, a Vermont electric plane maker, raised $1 billion in its debut IPO on Tuesday at the New York Stock Exchange by selling 34 million shares at $34 each—its share price later climbed 6% to $36. The company, which employs over 800 people and operates local facilities in South Burlington and St. Albans, said its local operations will drive further commercialization of electric flight. - ➤ Brave Little State celebrated its 200th episode yesterday with a live broadcast at noon and a rebroadcast at 7 p.m. The show looked back at listener questions on topics like the mysterious Gibou and a law about eating cheese with apple pie—senior producer Josh Crane and executive producer Angela Evancie explained how the show got started. - ➤ A Burlington School District teacher at Hunt Middle School was awarded the Rowland Fellowship to introduce financial literacy into the curriculum over the next three years. - ➤ State officials said that state emergency funding for SNAP benefits will be available Friday as they work to understand new federal guidance—this payment covers roughly half of November’s food assistance benefits for Vermonters. Federal judges ordered the USDA to release partial contingency funds while officials update households with more details. VTDigger
- ➤ State officials said that despite unclear federal guidance, Vermont’s emergency SNAP plan will go into effect this week. The Emergency Board approved over $6 million for 15 days of full benefits and eligible users will receive their aid by November 7 — local food shelves and community drives are also supported. NBC5
