  • The American Red Cross supported veterans and active-duty service members by logging over 650 volunteer hours and coordinating with local groups like Military Kids Vermont—providing emergency communications, financial aid, and community resources to military families before today. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hunter Eggleston, a Navy veteran and junior at UVM double-majoring in electrical engineering and Chinese, uses his military background to help fellow student veterans adjust to civilian life as president of UVM’s Student Veterans of America chapter—he and his wife moved to Vermont for a new adventure and plan to stay to support others with resources like scholarships and advising.  NBC5

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A potent storm brought early winter snowfall to northern New York and Vermont on Monday and disrupted evening commutes — snowfall reports as of Tuesday 6:30 a.m. showed totals reaching up to 8.8 inches in some areas. In Burlington, local roads received moderate snow and travel remained challenging.  NBC5

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Chittenden County face road closures, lane reductions and detours from construction in Burlington, Colchester, Winooski, South Burlington, Williston and Essex Junction. In Burlington, work on Champlain Parkway and Main Street runs from early morning until evening with projects set to finish by summer 2026—other projects in nearby towns will wrap up by November or summer 2027.  Burlington Free Press
  • On Veterans Day, Governor Phil Scott issued a statement recalling his grandfather Clem Beckley’s service in World War I and thanking veterans for their sacrifice.   • On Veterans Day, the Vermont Department of Labor closed its offices to honor veterans and used its Veteran Services Program to offer job training, resume support and one-on-one career guidance—commissioner Kendal Smith said veterans bring valuable skills to the workforce.  VermontBiz
