CULTURE NEWS

  • Shelburne Museum’s Winter Lights began Friday night and will run through Jan. 4—this fifth season features new exhibits such as an Illumination Station for kids and a model train in the Diamond Barn. Visitors can purchase tickets at the door or online while enjoying the holiday makeover of landmarks like the Ticonderoga steamboat and 1871 lighthouse.  NBC5

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Goldman—an infectious disease specialist with UPMC—advised Burlington residents to wash their hands, get a flu shot and COVID vaccine, and call their doctor if they feel very sick. He stressed that older adults and people with other health issues should avoid family gatherings to reduce the risk of severe illness.  NBC5

SPORTS NEWS

  • Vermont soccer hosts Hofstra today in the NCAA Tournament second round at Virtue Field + the Catamounts enter the match as the No. 1 seed with a 29-game unbeaten streak; the game starts at 1 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.  Burlington Free Press
  • Stowe Mountain Resort opened early this weekend after over 50 inches of snow fell on Mount Mansfield before Thanksgiving—drawing thousands of skiers eager for fresh powder. Nearby resorts in Vermont, New York and northern New England also opened early as cold temperatures helped maintain natural snow.  NBC5
