HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Vermont health officials insist newborns receive a hepatitis B shot within 24 hours despite a federal recommendation to delay it, with Health Commissioner Rick Hildebrant warning that the change may cause confusion. Officials aim to prevent liver disease and are preparing to adjust vaccine procurement if needed. VTDigger
- ➤ The University of Vermont, with Johns Hopkins and the NIH, announced a new vaccine to prevent dengue, a mosquito-spread illness that causes fever and bleeding. The vaccine will first be used in Brazil and a new antiviral will soon help lower dengue risk in high-risk areas. NBC5
