Arthur Park Sea Caves has been open for ice skating since a cold Friday as Burlington Parks and Recreation marked natural ice paths with blue flags so skaters can enjoy a winter tradition while a new online grid shows which rinks are open.

UVM researchers named a new Christmas fern — Polystichum hildae — after longtime volunteer Hilda White following her 95th birthday.

The fern was discovered near Cali, Colombia and honors her nearly 30 years of work at the herbarium.
