About this event

UVM Libraries and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences present: Two Intercultural Excellence Book Discussions – “ I'm Able: A Woman's Advice for Disability Change Agents”, by Sefakor G.M.A. Komabu-Pomeyie

Join us for discussions with the author on the foundational themes of leading through adversity, shifting personal perceptions to challenge social stigmas, and advocating for change in a world that constructs social and structural barriers for those with disabilities.

“I’m Able: A Woman’s Advice for Disability Change Agents” is a deeply personal memoir that navigates Sefakor’s childhood experiences and the obstacles she faced getting an education with a disability, and how it all shaped her path towards policy and advocacy. Sefakor is the Director of Intercultural Excellence and a Lecturer in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at UVM.

A limited number of copies of the book are available to borrow from the library, but there is no reading requirement to attend the discussion.

Contact program manager Kate Bright at kate.bright@uvm.edu to RSVP and inquire about obtaining a book, or simply show up. Light refreshments will be provided.
