About this event
Open Heels is for everyone, whether you are new to the style, or a seasoned dancer looking to improve their technique. We will focus on exercises to improve your ankle stability in a stiletto heel, as well as core & mobility movements that will apply to movements learned across the floor. You learn how to adjust your weight placement, maintain posture, hit clean lines, and execute the signature heels walk, bevels, and floorwork safely. Students will be led through beginner-friendly movements or a dance routine focused on musicality, attitude, and presence rather than high-difficulty tricks. Classes prioritize empowerment, body positivity, and building confidence in a safe space. What shoes do I wear? The instructor recommends starting with a lower, stable heel (around 3 inches) or sturdy block heels/dance booties designed for movement. No platform on the soles. (Please be aware that street boots with black rubber bottoms scuff the studio, so please avoid these). Socks or low sneakers are accepted as well until you feel balanced. Kneepads are strongly recommended for floorwork.
