- ➤ More than 50 housing and shelter groups asked Governor Phil Scott to sign the FY25 Budget Adjustment Act that would extend emergency winter housing until June 30, 2025 and add funds for affordable homes and a project for people with disabilities. The letter warned that without this help, hundreds of vulnerable families—including 588 adults and 161 children—might lose shelter when the current policy ends on March 31. Burlington Free Press
- ➤ Vermont lawmakers want to close a loophole that lets local police work directly with ICE by requiring that only the governor (with advice from the attorney general) can approve such deals. The Senate approved the bill 29-1 and it appears headed for passage. Seven Days
- ➤ The Vermont Senate approved a Kids Code bill that requires online services to set privacy to the highest default and limit data collection from minors (this includes disclosing data and algorithmic practices and banning features that encourage compulsive use). - ➤ The Vermont House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly today to ban toxic perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from use in dental floss, cleaning products and fluorine-treated containers. The new law, which strengthens the definition of intentionally added PFAS, is expected to gain final House approval tomorrow before moving to the Senate. VermontBiz
