- ➤ On March 19th, U.S. Senator Peter Welch toured Brattleboro Memorial Hospital and defended his bipartisan Rural Hospital Support Act to support rural providers amid proposed Medicaid cuts that could leave 32,000 Vermont residents without coverage — he argued that the bill would help keep essential rural hospitals open. - ➤ Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak and lead Theresa Vezina are working on a proposal for an overdose prevention center after the city named the Vermont Racial Justice Council as the provider—Vezina said the plan will be finished by March 28 and reviewed by the City Council on April 14 before moving to the Vermont Department of Health for funding. - ➤ The Senate approved an update to Vermont's right to farm law on Wednesday that makes it harder for neighbors to sue farmers for everyday practices.
