- ➤ The Vermont State Police arrested 18-year-old Stephen Nuciolo Jr. on a second-degree murder charge on Monday, April 14 — he was processed at New Haven Barracks and jailed without bail following the 2024 death of his father in Bridport, and he was arraigned on Tuesday, April 15 in Middlebury. - ➤ Parents of two Vermont girls filed a lawsuit against Snap Inc. alleging the company aided a 24-year-old predator who in November 2020 drugged and abused the girls using misleading Snapchat features (the case now fuels support for a Kids Code bill aimed at protecting minors). VTDigger
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ On April 10, over 100 tourism and hospitality leaders gathered at the State House for Tourism Economy Day to discuss Vermont’s visitor economy, which contributes $4 billion annually and supports 10% of the workforce. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The new UVM Soil Health Research and Extension Center will start collecting local soil samples on Earth Day, April 22 to give farmers more detailed results than out-of-state labs can offer—anyone can send a sample and attend upcoming workshops.
