- ➤ Burlington’s first bike park will open this fall at Leddy Park with construction set to begin in late July. The park began in 2015 when cyclist Sean Melinn and local supporters joined forces to create a local ride space (the city approved the plan on July 1 after years of planning) and will give bikers a new place to ride. - ➤ United Way’s Working Bridges launched a $10,000 Bridge Fund for Housing last week with support from Burlington law firm Paul Frank and Collins to help workers cover expenses such as partial rent, moving costs, or utilities. Eligible employees in Chittenden County can receive up to $750—this program helped over 1,600 workers in 2024. VermontBiz

- ➤ A Vermont woman, 42-year-old Nichole Wright, was charged with selling fentanyl after police linked her sale to Justin Cutler’s accidental overdose in April 2023—he had traveled to Burlington to buy drugs from her via social media. NBC5

- ➤ The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation released a new river corridor plan for the Upper West River that examines the river’s stability and gives 60 suggestions — to improve habitat, restore floodplains, conserve river corridors, and cut stormwater runoff — to lessen future flood risks; the DEC will hold an informational meeting on September 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the Londonderry Town Office. - ➤ Residents in Monkton and nearby areas have complained that deer flies have made it hard to garden and play outdoors this summer. State entomologist Judy Rosovsky said the wet spring and warm weather helped the insects flourish—making this one of the worst years for deer flies in Vermont. Vermont Public
