- ➤ The Space Weather Prediction Center said a moderate G2 storm may allow northern lights to be seen in Vermont and nearby states for the next two nights—experts advise viewing the display between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Locals should go to dark open areas such as parks to enjoy the show. - ➤ The Vermont Community Broadband Board has announced an Affordable Long Drop Program that will give grants to eligible providers in Montpelier to cover extra costs for long or nonstandard broadband drops (including underground installations). - ➤ Dozens of Vermonters protested at the Burlington Airport Commission meeting on August 6, urging officials to stop using nonpublic side doors for ICE transfers (activists claim over 450 detainees have been moved since January and liken the process to illegal human trafficking) and commissioners said they would work with city leaders to address concerns while noting they lack direct control over ICE activities.
