ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A sailboat capsized on Lake Iroquois near the boat launch on Beebe Lane on Monday around 1 p.m. when a sailor clung to the overturned boat until a powerboat rescued him and both later righted the vessel with no injuries. NBC5
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Burlington police investigated a targeted gunshot and assault on Aug. 17 at the intersection of Saint Paul and College streets near City Hall Park as they increased patrols downtown & collected video evidence to identify those involved. NBC5
- ➤ Burlington police arrested a minor after a high-speed chase began when officers responded to car break-in reports on Berry Street and saw two dark stolen cars speeding downtown—one crashing on Manhattan Avenue—resulting in the suspect being cited for eluding police, with no injuries reported. - ➤ On August 18th, ECHO opened Champ: America’s Lake Monster, a new permanent exhibit at the Leahy Center on Burlington's waterfront that lets visitors explore the legend with interactive displays and a life-sized sculpture.
