- ➤ The University of Vermont and BioLabs opened the new Innovation Center on Tuesday, September 23 at the Colchester Research Facility to give life science startups lab space and modern equipment—this facility, the nation’s first BioLabs hub in a rural state, offers 7,000 sq. ft. of space designed to host up to 20 companies soon. - ➤ Kinney Drugs introduced Ask Burt, a virtual assistant that tells people which vaccines they may be eligible for including COVID, flu, RSV, pneumonia, and shingles. The tool lets anyone chat online with the avatar—built with updated guidance from clinical pharmacists—to quickly get a vaccination list. VermontBiz
- ➤ UVM held a ribbon-cutting for its BioLabs facility on Tuesday, making it one of only 16 in the world and the only such lab in a rural area. - ➤ Vermont ski resorts are preparing for the upcoming season despite continued drought conditions. Bryan Rivard from Ski Vermont said new snowmaking technology—such as efficient snow guns and resource sharing—will help resorts adapt if dry weather persists. NBC5
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Burlington musician Kevin Bloom launched his early bid for Chittenden County sheriff—gathering 168 signatures from 14 municipalities and focusing on ending blanket evictions and improving police oversight. He said his campaign will connect community members with resources and strengthen public safety ahead of the 2026 election. VTDigger
- ➤ Vermont law says no tint is allowed on front side windows while back windows may use any darkness and only non-reflective tint is allowed on the windshield above the AS-1 line. A doctor-certified medical exemption is allowed and starting July 1 vehicles with illegal front window tint will fail inspection—the Vermont DMV advises compliance. Burlington Free Press
