The renovated facility, built to reverse brain drain by uniting over 1,200 members and 100 local companies, now offers shared lounges, privacy pods, and conference rooms for creative collaboration. - ➤ Authorities in St. Albans are investigating a case when a family’s dog Hank ate meat laced with rat poison in their yard—his family induced vomiting and rushed him to Burlington Emergency — Veterinary Specialists where he is now recovering while police search for who left the poisoned meat. - ➤ Vermont gasoline prices fell to $3.15 per gallon, down 3.5 cents from last week, and Burlington stations averaged $3.23 per gallon today—GasBuddy’s survey of 100 stations showed prices ranged from $3.07 to $3.29 per gallon. VermontBiz
- ➤ Today, the Vermont Department of Labor announced that the minimum wage will rise from $14.01 to $14.42 per hour starting January 1, 2026 — the law will also boost the tipped minimum wage from $7.01 to $7.21 per hour. NBC5

- ➤ Teresa Mares, an anthropology professor at UVM, delivered a talk at Saint Michael’s College on Monday, Oct. 6 where she explained how immigrant labor supports the food industry — the event was free and open to everyone. VermontBiz
- ➤ Vermont State University and VSAC launched the Freedom & Unity program that offers free tuition for associate and bachelor’s degree programs to Vermonters from households making $65,000 or less who do not have a bachelor’s degree. Supported by the governor and legislature, the program gives access to over 100 high-demand courses in areas like healthcare, engineering and business for nearly half of Vermont households. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A wildfire on Brownell Mountain was contained on Monday, though flames still burned as crews from Vermont Wildland Fire Control and the Williston Fire Department continued monitoring the site — early signs suggest the blaze may have been human-caused. Nearly three dozen firefighters battled the acre-wide fire with help from a helicopter that dumped 2,000 gallons of water on the flames. NBC5
