- ➤ Gas prices in Burlington averaged $3.15 per gallon this week—down 0.6 cents from last week, 10 cents lower than a month ago, and 5.3 cents below last year's level—according to a GasBuddy survey of 100 stations. - ➤ The federal shutdown means Vermonters will not receive SNAP benefits on November 1, so state lawmakers approved using $6 million from an emergency fund to pay for benefits for 15 days in November—users of EBT cards will see a gap until their benefits start on November 7. NBC5
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Since Oct. 1, Medicare only covers telehealth for specific conditions, so clinics like All Brains Belong now ask patients to self-pay or barter while larger providers such as Dartmouth Health and UVM Health continue offering virtual care + they hope Congress will soon extend coverage to all telehealth visits. - ➤ Burlington’s first mental health urgent care center at One South Prospect Street has marked one year by serving about 16,000 patients, including many college students, while keeping care free for those in need.
