- ➤ On November 4, 1927, Vermont endured its deadliest flood—heavy rains killed 84 people, including Lt. Governor Hollister Jackson, and swept away over 1,200 bridges while causing damage estimated at $35 million. - ➤ Burlington officials approved a dredging project at Perkins Pier and the community boathouse on Monday and plan to hire a contractor to deepen the marinas before next spring—an effort to prevent boats from grounding during low water levels.
