- ➤ Six Vermont orchards have set up a GoFundMe to raise $150,000 for 187 Jamaican seasonal workers affected by Hurricane Melissa, which caused heavy damage in Jamaica at the end of October. Orchard owners said the funds will help workers rebuild their lives and continue to care for local crops — they have always played a vital role in Vermont farming. Burlington Free Press
- ➤ Today, restaurants across Vermont offer free meals and special deals for veterans and active-duty service members in honor of Veterans Day. Offers include free tall coffee at Starbucks, a free doughnut from Dunkin’, free breakfast at Denny’s from 5 a.m. to noon, and discounts at 99 Restaurant, Applebee’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chili’s, Texas Roadhouse, Chipotle, and Firehouse Subs—with a valid military ID required. - ➤ GlobalFoundries announced a licensing agreement with TSMC for GaN technology to develop power devices and will test the technology at its Burlington facility—production of the new chips for datacenters, industrial systems, and automotive applications will begin later in 2026. VermontBiz

- ➤ A Vermont filmmaker made a documentary, The Green Box: A Heart of War, that follows Jim Kurtz as he pieces together his father’s World War II service after finding old relics (letters and medals) in a green box. - ➤ Burlington readers will soon see the late author Bill Mares’s final work, 2050: Vermonters Take a Swipe at the Future, completed by his wife and friends after his cancer diagnosis in 2024 (the 140-page essay collection looks ahead at Vermont’s future through various local voices). - ➤ Gasoline prices in Vermont have risen as the state average reached $3.11 per gallon—a 4.7‐cent increase from last week—while Burlington’s average climbed 3.9 cents to $3.17 per gallon. A survey of 100 Burlington stations reported prices ranging ($3.11 to $3.34) as supply drops and refinery issues kept prices high, according to GasBuddy. VermontBiz
