- ➤ Crews hung garland & decorations on Church Street Marketplace on Monday as they prepared for the annual tree lighting. The ceremony will take place next Friday, Nov 28, & NBC5 will cover the event starting at 4 p.m. NBC5
- ➤ At the Celebrate Craft Holiday Art Festival at the DoubleTree by Hilton on Williston Road from Nov. 21st to Nov. 23rd, shoppers in South Burlington can donate non-perishable food, cash, toiletries or pet food at the Champlain Islands Food Shelf to enter daily drawings for local art pieces. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 21st and 22nd and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 23rd — community organizers say the drive will help fight food insecurity. NBC5

- ➤ Weird Al Yankovic will bring his Bigger & Weirder Tour to Vermont with a show at the Champlain Valley Expo’s Midway Lawn in Essex Junction on Friday, July 24 in summer 2026—tickets go on sale on November 21 with a VIP Gold Package available and free admission for children under 12. Puddles Pity Party will open the performance as Yankovic adds more than 90 tour stops following a successful season. NBC5
- ➤ Shelburne Museum’s Winter Lights and the Vermont Institute of Natural Science’s Forest of Lights will open Friday, Nov 21 with new exhibits including an interactive Illumination Station for kids and a sparkle dome—these displays will run until early January and Jan 3 respectively. The Wild Center in Tupper Lake will open its holiday light display on Friday, Nov 28 with a wild walk and forest music curated to a specific soundtrack—tickets are available only through December. - ➤ Snow is falling early this morning across northern New York and Vermont and many schools and businesses have announced delays or closings due to moderate to heavy snowfall with gusty winds expected for the first half of the week—snow showers are expected to taper off by Tuesday. NBC5
- ➤ Year-round cyclists in Burlington rode through nearly half a foot of snow last week and continue to use beat-up bikes—fitted with studded tires and extra lights—to safely face winter’s icy roads. - ➤ University of Vermont researchers found that extra nitrogen is boosting harmful blue-green algae blooms in Lake Champlain, a discovery that adds to concerns over phosphorus pollution.
