COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Farmhouse Group will deliver over 2,000 free Thanksgiving meals this week to nonprofits in Chittenden County, including venues offering meals on a first-come, first-serve basis (such as the Salvation Army and Feeding Champlain Valley). The restaurant owner said the effort comes as local need has grown.  Burlington Free Press
  • Vermont Public released its 2025 Annual Impact Report on November 24 to show how its work changed our community and tackled challenges—its report details new strategies to reach Vermonters and guide future efforts.  Vermont Public

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Shoppers in Burlington searching for Black Friday deals on Bills gifts can check online for sneakers, jerseys and accessories designed for holiday gifting. The deals include discounts from major retailers — and are available this week — with prices that may change as the holiday season nears.  Burlington Free Press
  • Adam LaPerle’s Bristol Discount Beverage expanded its offerings by partnering with the state through the 802Spirits model—money from liquor sales now goes directly to Vermont’s General Fund to support public services. CULTURE NEWS

  • The show celebrated local jingle writers—Jim Giberty, Cary Reich, and Daisy Nell—whose catchy tunes promoted local businesses and evoked memorable ads from past years. It was a July rebroadcast that reminded listeners of the art behind classic earworms.  Vermont Public

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Educators Heather Duhamel and Kaitlin Northey argue that Vermont must protect early childhood education programs so every new classroom gets a qualified teacher—calling for stable funding and clear pathways that support better pay and strong child care workforces.  VTDigger

  • Andrew Wyslotsky—a chef from Winooski—began fly fishing in March 2020 when the pandemic slowed restaurant work and now uses his Monday mornings on Bolton's waters to help manage his mental health. LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • In 1994—NBC5 interviewed local Vermonters who kept a Thanksgiving tradition alive by playing a quick round of golf at Burlington Country Club before dinner. The tradition, which started in the 1960s, often brought more than a dozen friends together to celebrate the holiday.  NBC5

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In October, the median listing price for a home in Chittenden County dropped 3.6% to $572,800, according to Realtor.com data. The region saw 198 new listings and a median market time of 48 days—figures that mirror modest price declines in Burlington and across Vermont.  Burlington Free Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, Vermont’s men’s soccer team lost 2—3 in overtime to Hofstra University and was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament. The team led 1—0 before Hofstra scored twice in a quick surge and then secured the win in extra time, ending their championship hopes.  Vermont Public
  • Judith Meer, a Burlington neighbor and mom of two, is training for her first marathon—she will run 26.2 miles at the Vermont City Marathon on May 24 to honor her 40th birthday next year as part of RunVermont's Rdy2Run program.  NBC5
