- ➤ Air travelers arriving in Burlington reported smooth trips after Thanksgiving while icy conditions on I-89 near Exit 2 in Sharon forced a road closure and backed up traffic—AAA projects that heavy traffic will continue through Monday morning. - ➤ Generator Makerspace Holiday Maker Market will return to Burlington at Generator, 40 Sears Lane on Dec. 6 from noon to 4 p.m. The free event will feature local makers selling handmade items including jewelry, prints and home decor (guests can enjoy complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and festive drinks from Zero Gravity Brewery). - ➤ Maelyn Slavik, a 15-year-old from Burlington, posted her story 'The genuine beauty of dreams' on the Young Writers Project site—an online space for teen writers and artists that started in 2006. - ➤ Partizanfilm, a new art house movie theater founded by five Burlington locals, will open next week on College St. as a member-only venue on Dec. 3 before opening to the public on Dec. 4 with screenings of films from the 1970s and other independent movies—its small auditoriums and lobby with a cafe-bookstore aim to create a community space. - ➤ VTDigger announced that all donations made tomorrow on Giving Tuesday will be tripled by generous donors to boost nonprofit journalism, and it will host a free webinar with education reporter Corey McDonald at noon (via Zoom) to explain changes in Vermont schools under Act 73. - ➤ Vermont Parks Forever started a pilot program this year that gave free passes to over 30,000 low-income Vermonters to visit state parks like Branbury, Lake Shaftsbury, Crystal Lake and Sand Bar.
