- ➤ Vermont will host five major New Year's Eve events on Dec. 31, featuring Burlington’s waterfront festival with local art and a glow tubing event at Smugglers’ Notch, along with celebrations in Brattleboro, St. Johnsbury, and Bolton Valley with varied ticket options. Burlington Free Press
- ➤ In December 1942, Vermonters faced gas shortages and strict fuel rules while keeping their Christmas spirit bright - local ads encouraged buying war bonds and shopping to support the war. - ➤ This week, the Young Writers Project featured the poem "Fall in" by 16-year-old Will Helms from Hardwick and the art piece "Amazon After Hours" by 15-year-old Meredith Rocke from West Rutland. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Nine dams were removed in 2025 to lower flood risk and improve river health, with projects completed in Newport and Barre. Local groups plan additional removals next summer as they navigate funding and permit challenges & work with private dam owners. VTDigger
