- ➤ Average gasoline prices in Burlington stayed stable at $3.16 per gallon today, down 2.9 cents from last week and 18.4 cents lower than a year ago. - ➤ Volunteer mentors are needed to guide local youth who face challenges from social media and fewer in-person spaces. Officials from the King Street Center and Connecting Youth program under the Champlain Valley School District said children—especially from lower income families—and their attendance and academic success have improved through mentor support. - ➤ Vermont students will receive a minimum of $3,000 in grants from SCRAPI to start waste reduction projects in their schools by forming teams to develop ideas like composting or recycling. - ➤ Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark urged 23andMe customers to protect their genetic data by using the website’s option to permanently delete it after the company entered bankruptcy and is seeking a buyer. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UVM Medical Center in Burlington proposed paying $38 million next year as a compromise with state health care regulators—$11 million for primary care providers, $12 million for BlueCross BlueShield, and up to $15 million for consultants—after exceeding its agreed revenue last year. - ➤ UVM Cancer Center will host its second annual fashion show on Saturday, April 12 at the Higher Ground Ballroom in South Burlington where 35 nurses and some patients will walk the runway wearing altered chemo gowns to raise funds for cancer care.
